The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is a worldwide hands-on, science and education program focusing on the environment, now active in over 120 countries worldwide.
GLOBE is a worldwide community of students, teachers, scientists, and citizens working together to better understand, sustain, and improve Earth’s environment at local, regional, and global scales. It will promote the teaching and learning of science, enhance environmental literacy and stewardship, and promote scientific discovery.
GLOBE is a network of worldwide partners, students, teachers and scientists who work together to increase their understanding of the Earth as a system.
GLOBE provides grade level-appropriate, interdisciplinary activities and investigations about the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and soil/pedosphere, which have been developed by the scientific community and validated by teachers.
This drive is augmented through National Green Corps in India and Odisha State has been selected by the Ministry in the eastern zone for implementation of this programme during the current financial year 2019-20.
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India have selected State Odisha form the Eastern Zone for launching of this program. In the first phase, 150 eco-clubs have been selected.
Practical training with GLOBE Kits were given to all GLOBE Schools. Schools under GLOBE Programme are collecting field periodical data using instruments provided and they are uploading data in GLOBE Portal.
